Public holidays in Türkiye 2026: calendar and return-to-work date

A public holiday is a day that Law No. 2429 on National Holidays and General Holidays counts as the national holiday, an official or religious holiday, or a general holiday; public offices close on these days. The table below gives the days of 2026; religious feast dates come from the calendar of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. You can download the calendar and calculate a return-to-work date.

How is the return-to-work date calculated?

Enter the first day of leave and the number of days to use. The calculator does not count Sundays or the full holidays in the table as leave, and can leave Saturdays out too if you choose; it shows the last day of leave and the first working day back. The date you enter is processed only in your browser and is not sent anywhere.

The result appears here once you enter the date and the number of days.

Do public holidays count as annual leave?

No. Under Article 56 of the Turkish Labour Law, national holidays, the weekly rest day and general holidays that fall within annual leave are not counted as leave days. So when leave overlaps a feast, the employee returns to work later. The calculator treats Sunday as the weekly rest day and the full days in the table as general holidays.

  • Under Law No. 2429 the weekly rest day is Sunday.
  • Whether Saturday counts as leave depends on your workplace's working pattern; if unsure, ask your adviser.
  • Feast eves and 28 October are half days starting in the afternoon; the calculator counts that day as a leave day and flags it in the result.
  • Religious feast dates are loaded for 2026 only; the next year's dates are added once the official calendar is published.
  • The date you enter is processed only in your browser; the form is not sent anywhere.
Is the eve of a feast a half-day holiday?
Yes. Under Law No. 2429 the Ramadan Feast lasts three and a half days from 13.00 on its eve, and the Feast of Sacrifice four and a half days from 13.00 on its eve. Republic Day also starts at 13.00 on 28 October and lasts through 29 October.
Which day is the weekly rest day?
Under Article 3 of Law No. 2429 the weekly rest day is Sunday; the rest starts on Saturday at 13.00 at the latest and lasts no less than thirty-five hours. The weekly rest provisions of the Labour Law and other laws are reserved.
Do private workplaces close on 29 October?
Yes. Under Article 2 of Law No. 2429 private workplaces must close on 29 October. How work on the other general holidays is paid is set by the Labour Law and the employment contract.

The leave entitlement itself comes from the annual leave calculator under Labour Law Art. 53; moving leave tracking from paper to records is covered in the leave tracking article. In the Corex360 HR module leave requests go through an approval flow and the leave calendar sits in the time and attendance section; see HR. The premium pay for work beyond forty-five hours a week comes from the Art. 41 premium calculation.
